Got Soccer recommends that a tournament schedule not be done or released until 10-12 days before a tournament. The main reasons for this are that teams may drop out of the tournament (one U14 team dropped out 5 days ago) or teams may be added from the waiting list (14 teams were added YESTERDAY). Any change usually creates a ripple effect of changes for several age groups and brackets; something to avoid at all costs hence you really don’t want to create the schedule too early.
We now have 174 teams!!! Also we added another field at the FHS yesterday- this will alleviate some parking congestion at FCP hopefully.
For those of you who don’t know much about tournament scheduling, here a quick explanation of this lengthy process that Sean and I are now working on. There are two parts to creating a tournament schedule. First, you have to create the brackets, “seed” them, and decide on a play off format. I cross check all teams’ (yes all 174 teams!) league schedules and try to make sure that you don’t play the same exact teams in the FFC as your league games. Sometimes this works great and sometimes you may got one repeat opponent.
After that, the software program generates all the games and I have to manually place them on the various fields that we will be using. Both of these parts takes me 6+ hours respectively, as there are numerous coaching conflicts with head coaches of 2 teams, along with various requests for morning games, late games etc. Everything gets crosschecked several times! Since I had already done the seeding for half the age groups several days ago, we are now starting over and redoing that part with the late addition of the 14 Bonny Eagle teams. So far, all the brackets look great and competitive.
THE FFC SCHEDULE WILL BE RELEASED ON OCT. 1st!! We want to avoid having to redo any parts of it at this point.
When the schedule is released, you will notice that we use a different numbering system for all the fields. All the tournament maps are being uploaded this weekend and will be available at our website:
You will want to print off a copy of the maps when the schedule is released. At team check in, you will also receive 2 hard copies of the FFC program with all the games listed.
Please remind your parents and visitors that there are NO DOGS allowed at FCP or FHS during this tournament.
Also, please encourage all your players and parents to CARPOOL, esp the U11 and U13 at FCP.
Thanks for your patience and understanding on this matter. It would be great if you could pass along this info to your parents too.
